The top photo on the left was taken in October, 2002
and the bottom photo was taken in late May, 2003.
The Jacksonport Craft Cottage is open daily, May - October from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
and on winter weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) November - April.

As you can see, many changes have taken place at 6275 Hwy. 57 since the Craft Cottage opened in Jacksonport in 1984. From the early photo taken in 1984, through the renovation in the winter of 2002 into 2006, great efforts were taken to restore the home and garage as the old logs were uncovered. The living area on the left was completely replaced as that part of the structure was not logs but was made up of several ad ons that had taken place in the early 1900's.
The final phase of construction is completed and a new two story double attached garage is now completed. This area provides not only an attached garage and work space for the home but also a wonderful display room for the king sized Amish Quilts on the second floor.

Very well received events hosted by the Jacksonport Craft Cottage are the annual Amish Quilt Markets. The 10th annual show will be held at the Sister Bay Village Hall located on Highway 42 in downtown Sister Bay, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, July 17 - 20. The second show will be held Columbus Day weekend, and will run October 9 through Oct. 12, also at the Sister Bay Village Hall.
Featured at these exquisite Amish Quilt Shows will be many traditional Amish designs, both dimensional and appliquéd florals, in a variety of popular colors. All quilting is done by hand as is the old order Amish custom. Regular sized quilts as well as queen and king-sized quilts will be available. The quilts are displayed on either a double, queen or king-sized display bed and will be turned on a regular basis for all to view. Gloves are always worn to protect the stunning quilts from being handled by the public and are turned by show employees.
In addition to the Amish quilts a wide selection of Amish made wall hangings in a variety of sizes, patterns and colors will be on hand. Pillows, table runners, place mats, pot holders, table centers, spice mats, mini-quilt pins, rugs, Amish dolls and many other interesting gifts hand crafted by the Amish will also be on display and for sale.
A number of excellent books on quilting patterns and Amish quilt trends and tips for quilters will be for sale.
Several Amish recipe books will be available as well as a variety of excellent paper-back books highlighting many aspects of Amish life. The “Reuben “ collector series of children’s books featuring noted artist P. Buckley Moss with the Amish stories written by Merle Good will be available this year along with other children’s books. Children’s play aprons with crayons, kitchen utensils and coloring books depicting Amish life will be for sale. Mattie Miller's well loved Amish "cashew crunch" will be for sale as well as Amish noodles, peanut butter and Yoder Popcorn.
Our Amish families have worked the entire winter preparing for this annual showing and know you will be pleased with all that will be on display. We always make an annual spring trip out east to Amish friends and families to bring back new designs for our upcoming shows.
An entry fee of $1 will be charged at the door for the Quilt Markets. Children age 8 and under are admitted free but must be attended by an adult at all times.
